Evalena Shepherd of Houston, Texas went to be with her Lord on Friday, September 8, 2017 in The Woodlands, Texas. She was born in Merkle, Texas on March 8, 1917. Evalena was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend that will be dearly missed by all of those that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children: Carolyn Palmer and her husband Franklin, Irace Shepherd and his wife Vicki and Verron W. Shepherd and his wife Lynn; son-in-law Wesley Bell; grandchildren: Kevin Bell, Andrea Thompson, Alisha Smith, Vanessa...

She is survived by her children: Carolyn Palmer and her husband Franklin, Irace Shepherd and his wife Vicki and Verron W. Shepherd and his wife Lynn; son-in-law Wesley Bell; grandchildren: Kevin Bell, Andrea Thompson, Alisha Smith, Vanessa Shepherd, Stephen Shepherd, Heather Jones, William Shepherd; great-grandchildren: Jana Smith, Carrington Shepherd, Christopher Thompson, Ryan Bell, Hannah Hoy, Hannah Shepherd, Ronald Maden, Morgan Bell, Calvan Bell, Ashley Shepherd, Zachary Maden, Brianna Smith, Robert Jones, Teagan Shepherd, Thatcher Shepherd, Callie Shepherd; great-great-grandchildren: Jayde Smith, Jaylie Smith, David Smith and Ember Shepherd; sister Wanda Brown and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Evalena is preceded in death by her husband Ira Ernest Shepherd and daughter Vonnelda Ruth Bell and seven siblings.

The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Family Chapel at Brookside Funeral Home followed by a burial in Brookside Memorial Park.
