Margaret Ann Jankowiak, 64, went to be with her Lord on September 14, 2016 with family and friends by her side after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born on July 12, 1952 to parents Virgil and Lola Jean Fry in Houston, Texas. Margaret was a lifetime resident of Houston, Texas. She was a long time employee of Harris County where she worked in the Engineering Department for 27 years until she retired at age 54. She was also an active member of the American Legion for many years and served as Past Department Chaplin, Past President Unit 560, and Past 8th District President for 2 terms. Margaret loved her country and supported the military actively.

Margaret was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. The word that best describes Margaret is giving. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including both parents and aunt. She was someone you could count on when times were hard. There was nothing Margaret loved more than her family and especially being a Nina to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Joe Castro and wife Vanessa; grandchildren: Trevor Garza, Callie Castro and Nate Castro; great grandson Isaiah Garza; life partner Ken Palluotto; sister Sally Jarratt; uncle Ray Fry and a host of cousins and friends. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Aunt Margaret Sanford, and husband David Jankowiak.

The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Brookside Funeral Home in the Grand Chapel followed by a burial at Brookside Memorial Park & Cemetery. The American Legion will be hosting a luncheon to follow the service on Wednesday at 708 E. Parker Road, Houston, Texas 77076.
