Willie McBride "Ginger" Artusy, passed away on June 2, 2017. Born March 14, 1920 to John and Ella McBride in Natchitoches, LA, Ginger entered a large family as the youngest of twelve siblings. After graduating from Natchitoches H.S., Ginger moved to Alexandria, Louisiana, working as a secretary at the Bentley Hotel. She then moved to Oakland, California where she married William Dickens. After divorcing William, she met and married the love of her life, Richard Artusy, in December 1976. They both worked at the Western Paci?c Railroad, living in a home at the Crow Canyon Country Club in Danville, CA while enjoying their favorite past time, golf. Upon retiring in 1981, Ginger and Richard packed up and moved to Kingwood, TX to be near Richard's mother and siblings and closer to Ginger's hometown, Natchitoches. For nearly 33 years of retirement, they played golf at the Kingwood Country Club and anywhere else their journeys would take them. Many of their journeys, over ?fty, were made on cruise ships including Europe, Indonesia, Hawaii and trips through the Caribbean, too numerous to count. Ginger's second favorite pastime was shopping, especially for clothes, as attested by her large wardrobe; she always looked great. Ginger lost the love of her life in 2014, and spent the remainder of her life with her friends at Arbor Terrace in Kingwood. Ginger is survived by three nephews, James Lofton, Dalton Lofton and Alton Lofton; three nieces, Mildred Grunwald, Janette Wilkerson and Pamela Kissinger; step sons, Richard Artusy Jr, Robert Artusy, James Artusy and Thomas Artusy; four step granddaughters and eight step great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 1pm to 2pm at Brookside Funeral Home with a funeral service to immediately follow at 2pm in the Grand Chapel. Burial to follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
